Sae-Ddeul-Chae House, Yangpyeong / 새뜰채 주택, 양평

Set within the lush greenery of a hillside, this 100-square-meter residence was designed as a tranquil retreat for an elderly couple, where the sounds of birds and a small forest garden create a quiet sense of seclusion.

​

At the heart of the design lies the exposed steel structure—engineered to maintain thermal performance while expressing its aesthetic presence within the interior. It achieves a natural balance between technical function and architectural beauty.

​

Soft daylight entering through side windows beneath the sloped roof flows along the white oak ceiling, creating a warm and serene atmosphere.

​

To harmonize with the surrounding forest, materials with gentle textures and beige-toned finishes were carefully chosen. Within the simple composition of two interlocking volumes, interior and exterior spaces are visually connected, creating depth and continuity throughout the small home.

The result is a modest yet richly layered dwelling where nature, structure, and material coexist in quiet harmony.

산중턱의 짙은 녹음 속에 자리한 이 주택은 노부부를 위한 30평 규모의 단독주택으로, 새소리와 숲속 마당이 어우러진 고요한 휴식의 공간으로 계획되었습니다.

​

건축의 핵심은 구조 자체가 드러나는 방식에 있습니다. 철골 구조는 단열 성능을 충분히 확보하면서도 내부에서 미학적으로 노출되도록 설계되어, 기술적 기능과 조형적 아름다움이 자연스럽게 공존합니다.

​

경사 지붕 아래 형성된 측면 창을 통해 들어오는 부드러운 자연광은 화이트 오크 천장을 따라 흐르며 따뜻하고 평온한 분위기를 만들어냅니다.

​

외부의 숲과 조화를 이루기 위해 재료는 부드러운 질감과 미색 색상으로 마감하였으며, 단순한 두 개의 볼륨이 맞물리며 만들어내는 깊이감 있는 공간은 실내와 실외를 시각적으로 이어줍니다.

​

그 결과, 작은 규모 안에서도 자연과 구조, 재료가 조화롭게 어우러진 다층적인 공간 경험을 제공하는 집이 완성되었습니다.
