Entete Bakery Lab, Seorae Village / 앙떼띠 베이커리 랩
Located in an area of French neighborhood, where some well‐known cafes and bakeries exist, this project explores the re‐use and disused the basement space in Seorae Village, Seoul. Occupying a key site adjacent to the high street, the left over basement floor of the building contains a high level ceiling and large sized structural columns that was poorly maintained and unused.
The brief is for a new bakery within a cafe building that offers mainly kitchen and coffee roasting facilities, storages and a seminar hall for education. The basement floor, once a warehouse and more recently not used, now has been remodelled to a bakery.
The project aims to create a rationalized internal layout to optimize the space in a large scale providing an industrial and minimal atmosphere.
The building’s existing fabric is exposed, revealing original block works, concrete soffits and structural columns. The new joinery elements finishing with galvanized steel sheet and brass (kitchen, display cases and seminar table) including new lightings are precise pieces and contrast with the building’s original fabric making the contemporary elements distinct and legible.
Especially, the new walls with galvanized steel sheet provides an industrial atmosphere for the bakery as it absorbs its surrounding colors and lightings. Furthermore, bespoke circular windows to the kitchen, door within a wall and louvers all finished with galvanized steel sheet emphasize an industrial detail in this space.
서울의 서래마을에 위치한 이 곳은 많은 프랑스인들이 거주하고, 몇몇의 유명한 카페와 베이커리가 있는 지역입니다.
디자인을 진행하기 전 방문했던 이 공간은 높은 천장고와 큰 스케일의 기둥으로 구성된 지하공간이었습니다. 카페에 판매되어질 빵과 커피를 제조하는 베이커리 주방과 커피 로스터리의 2가지 메인 공간과 조그마한 랩실, 창고 그리고 세미나를 위한 홀 공간을 계획하였습니다.
이 공간은 인더스트리얼 하면서도 심플하고, 최소의 벽과 기능적인 공간으로 구성된 커다란 스케일의 지하공간이 되길 원했습니다.
기존에 존재하던 시멘트블럭의 벽과 콘크리트 기둥은 남겨두고, 아연도금강판으로 마감된 건축적 요소와 황동으로 마감된 제품진열장, 조명기구의 최소의 인테리어적 요소는 사람들이 이 공간에 집중하게끔 연출하고 있습니다.
특히 아연도금강판으로 마감되어진 이 재료는 주변의 색과 조명 빛을 흡수하여 특별한 분위기를 연출합니다. 그리고 아연으로 제작된 원형 창문과 문, 루버는 이 공간의 디테일을 표현합니다.
