Elementary School Project, Dongtan
Dongtan Elementary School is a project for planning an elementary school to be located in the second Dongtan New City. The surrounding conditions are only planned zoning ordinance that do not yet exist. A high-rise apartment will be built opposite the main entrance to the west side of the land, and it is adjacent to the housing site on the east side. In the South and the North, the neighboring parks were located, taking into consideration the visual aspect and the lighting.
In conjunction with the city, the focus was on how to adapt to the surrounding context and essentially how to deploy and function. The main entrance provided entrance and pleasant passageways through the mass separation of the two main entrances, while the entrance to the secondary entrance was divided into sections to harmonize with the scale of the detached housing site. The playground and the courtyard for lower-grade students provide specialized education spaces suitable for the curriculum by separating and creating outdoor spaces with different characteristics.
Beige clay bricks at the top and stone materials at the bottom form a solid air mass, while at the same time creating a natural harmony with the surrounding environment and leaving a warm impression. Dongtan Elementary School wanted to create an educational space for students who were humble and simple, and sometimes showed strength and beauty.
동탄초등학교는 제2동탄신도시에 위치할 초등학교 계획을 위한 프로젝트이다. 주변은 아직 물리적으로 존재하지 않는 계획상의 용도지역 구분만 되어 있다. 대지 서측의 지정된 주출입구 맞은편에는 고층아파트가 들어설 예정이고, 동측에는 단독주택지와 인접하여 있다. 남측과 북측에는 근린공원이 위치하고 있어 시각적인 측면과 채광을 고려하였다.
도시와 연계하여 주변 콘텍스트에 순응하며 근본적으로 어떻게 배치되고, 기능할 것인지에 초점을 맞추었다. 주출입구에서는 2개의 교사동 매스 분리를 통해 입구성과 쾌적한 통학로를 제공하고, 부출입구 쪽의 입면에서는 매스를 분절하여 단독주택지의 스케일과 조화를 이루도록 하였다. 대운동장과 저학년을 위한 어울마당은 성격이 다른 야외공간을 분리하여 조성함으로써 교육과정에 적합한 특화교육공간을 제공한다.
상부의 베이지색 점토벽돌과 하부의 고흥석 재료는 견고한 기단을 형성함과 동시에 주변 환경과 자연스러운 조화를 이루고 따뜻한 인상을 남긴다. 동탄초등학교는 겸손하고 담백하며, 때로는 강인함과 아름다움을 드러내는 학생들의 교육공간을 만들어내고자 했다.
