History Center for R Church Project, Miryang

The History Center for R Church is a small-scale project for educating the history of the church located in Miryang, South Korea. It has a layout that respects the symbolism of the existing church and forms the church's yard, which is planned to be memorialized in a quiet village.

The History Center serves as a intermediation for the church members to enter the main hall with the volume of a low-lying layout on one floor. Passing through corridors formed by canopy of exposed concrete, one will experience the experience of enjoying void spaces and lawns open to nearby streams. In addition, corridors, voids, and lawns can be operated to allow outdoor assembly spaces or church members to engage in various outdoor activities.

The project does not harm the existing landscape, but harmonizes with the main hall to capture the surrounding landscape and the daily lives of the church members.

무지개전원교회 역사관은 경남 밀양시에 위치한 교회의 역사 전시와 교육을 위한 소규모 프로젝트이다. 한적한 마을에 기념적으로 계획되어진 기존 교회본당의 상징성을 존중하고, 교회의 마당을 형성해주는 배치를 가지고 있다.

역사관은 1개층의 나즈막한 (ㅓ)자 배치의 볼륨이 교인들이 본당으로 진입하는데 있어 매개역할을 하고 있다. 노출콘크리트의 캐노피로 형성된 회랑을 지나면서 주변의 하천으로 열린 보이드 공간과 잔디마당을 누리는 경험을 하게 된다. 또한 회랑과 보이드공간, 잔디마당은 야외집회공간이나 교인들의 다양한 야외활동을 할수 있게끔 작동할 수 있다.

이 프로젝트는 기존의 경관을 해치지 않고, 본당과의 조화를 이루며 주변 풍경과 교인들의 일상을 담아내고 있다.
